How do I create a task with my voice?

Tap the center icon in the bottom tab bar to open "Spill the Beans." Then tap the microphone icon and speak naturally. Say things like:

  • "Call mom tomorrow at 3pm"
  • "Team meeting every Monday at 10am"
  • "Buy groceries this weekend"

Chime's AI will understand and create the perfect reminder.

How do I use Quick Add?

On the home screen, tap the text field and type or paste a task description. Chime will automatically detect dates and times. For example:

  • "Dentist appointment Friday at 2pm"
  • "Weekly standup every Wednesday"

Tap send and your task is created instantly.

How do I edit a task?

Simply tap anywhere on a task card to open the details view. From there you can:

  • Change the title and notes
  • Set or modify the reminder time
  • Configure recurring schedules
  • Change the focus tag (Personal/Work)
  • Mark as complete or delete

How do recurring tasks work?

When editing a task, you can set it to repeat:

  • Hourly: Every X hours
  • Daily: Every day at a specific time
  • Weekly: Specific days of the week at a specific time

The task will automatically reschedule after each completion or notification.

Can I snooze notifications?

Yes! When a notification appears, you can:

  • Swipe or tap to snooze for your configured interval (default: 9 minutes)
  • Mark as complete
  • Tap to open the task details

You can customize the snooze interval in the task details.

How do I add widgets?

Home Screen Widgets:

  1. Long press on your home screen
  2. Tap the + button in the top corner
  3. Search for "Chime"
  4. Choose a size (Small, Medium, or Large)
  5. Tap "Add Widget"

Lock Screen Widgets:

  1. Long press on your lock screen
  2. Tap "Customize"
  3. Choose a widget area
  4. Search for "Chime"
  5. Add circular, rectangular, or inline widgets

Is my data private?

Absolutely! All your tasks are stored locally on your device. We don't collect any personal information, and we don't track your usage.

The only time data leaves your device is when you use AI features—text is sent to OpenAI to process and create tasks, but we don't store it.

Why does Chime need microphone permission?

Microphone access is only used for the "Spill the Beans" voice feature. Your voice is transcribed on your device using Apple's Speech Recognition—we never record or store audio.

Does Chime work offline?

Yes! All your existing tasks work offline. You can:

  • View and edit tasks
  • Mark tasks complete
  • Receive notifications
  • Create tasks manually

However, AI-powered task extraction (voice and Quick Add) requires an internet connection.

Can I export my tasks?

Currently, Chime doesn't have an export feature. All tasks are stored locally on your device using Apple's secure storage.

Does Chime sync across devices?

Not yet. In version 1.0, tasks remain on the device where you create them. iCloud sync may be added in a future update based on user feedback.

What iOS version do I need?

Chime requires iOS 18.0 or later. Some features like Live Activities require iOS 16.1+.
